- Iran’s top legislative body has confirmed President Ahmadinejad won the disputed June 12 presidential election after a recount of 10% of the ballots, AP reported.

- Former NASDAQ chairman Bernard Madoff has been sentenced to 150 years in prison, the maximum sentence, for scamming $65 billion from his investment clients in the largest case of fraud in U.S. history.


- A Los Angeles judge approved Michael Jackson's mother's request for temporary guardianship of his children, AP reported


- Apple Inc. spokesman said CEO Steve Jobs is back to work "a few days a week” after liver transplant, Reuters reported


- A Florida medical examiner says cause of death for legendary TV pitchman Billy Mays will not be announced for six to eight weeks
, noting heart disease may have caused sudden death and not a bump to the head when the tires of a plane Mays was on the day before blew out upon landing.
