Dumb fuck sees stunt video, sets himself on fire

And the mother, evidently a dimwit herself, is pointing the finger at YouTube.

By the way, hats off to Florida for doing it again as the birthplace, or eventual destination, of many of the nation's most notorious dumb and sick fucks. It's either that or the scope of local news coverage throughout the state is unparalleled. In any case, the host of Disney World never fails to entertain.

A teenager from Deltona reportedly was hospitalized today after suffering multiple burns while imitating a video of a stunt posted on YouTube.

The 13-year-old dunce, Russell Gortzig, said his friend siphoned gasoline from a riding lawnmower and poured it on him, and that though the lighter was held away from his body, a combination of the spark and fumes set his shorts on fire burning off the skin on his leg. He's recovering in a hospital.

The proud mother, Linda McCrea, said the boys were trying to copy a stunt they saw on YouTube in which a man in a banana suit lights himself on fire, and warned other parents to closely monitor the online activities of their children. Just like she did?

Here's what irks me the most: she's blaming YouTube for her son's pain and wants the website to tighten its user guidelines. She seems to believe her son's IQ and her parenting skills had nothing to do with it. And what makes her think she's entitled to tell YouTube what to do because of what her kid did to himself? The nerve...where does it come from?

If the video alone were the cause of such stupidity, everyone who saw it would set him/herself on fire.

A YouTube representative reportedly said that 20 hours of video are posted on the website each minute and that although YouTube cannot screen postings in advance, users can flag potentially dangerous videos. I think it's absurd for YouTube to even bother explaining itself in a situation like this, as it might give the impression that it owes an explanation.

Frankly, it never ceases to amaze me--and perhaps that's my problem--how people in this country find it so difficult, so painful and impossible to take responsibility for their actions and instead find it so easy to point the finger at someone or something else. In accidents, rather than take a moment to look into how they might have contributed to what happened, they use the moment to find lawyers and file lawsuits.

So I can't help but wonder if it has dawned on the mother that her son acted stupidly when he chose to bathe in gasoline and ignite a lighter. I suppose blaming the website for the foolish behavior of her offspring is more convenient and less shameful.

I also wonder if she has bothered to notice that a video of a stunt on YouTube is no different to those shown on network TV, cable TV, movies, ads, comic books, and video games--source of the most violent videos and a favorite hobby of boys.

Inspiration for dangerous acts abounds nearly everywhere we look. So when a person acts on such inspiration, should the inspiration be blamed and the person spared?

Mother, grandma burn child in voodoo ritual

A New York mother and grandmother were charged with setting a 6-year-old girl on fire during a voodoo ritual that caused life-threatening burns over 25% of the child's body, prosecutors said on Thursday.

Frantzcia Saintil suffered physical and emotional scars after she was set ablaze with lighter fluid and kept at home overnight until another relative insisted she be taken to the hospital, prosecutors said according to a Reuters report.

"During the performance of a Haitian voodoo practice known as 'Loa,' the child's mother is alleged to have intentionally poured an accelerant over her young daughter's body, causing her to be engulfed in flames,"Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said in a statement.

"Despite the child's cries for help and the severity of her injuries, both defendants are accused of failing to seek immediate medical attention for the child," he said. "Instead, they allegedly washed her down with cold water and placed her in bed, where she was fortunately discovered the following evening by another relative who insisted that the child be taken to the hospital," he said, noting that the child has suffered permanent scarring--both physically and emotionally."

According to the charges, Frantzcia was home with her mother, Marie Lauradin, 29, grandmother, Sylvenie Thessier, 70, and a family friend known as "Sketch" (sounds sketchy to me), and that pursuant to the mother's belief in the voodoo practice, Lauradin poured an accelerant on her head and in a circle on the floor. She then allegedly set the circle on fire and placed Frantzcia, who was naked, inside the ring of fire, at which point the accelerant on her body ignited and flames engulfed her. Although Thessier and Sketch were present in the room, neither intervened, even after Frantzcia cried out for help.

Lauradin reportedly told police that she had been preparing rice on the stove and accidentally spilled boiling water on the child and that she did not see any burns on her daughter until she was at the hospital. Thessier claimed to be in the bathroom at the time of the incident.

Lauradin was charged with first-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child, and if convicted faces up to 25 years in prison. Thessier was charged with first-degree reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child, facing up to 7 years if convicted.

The girl was admitted to the William Randolph Hearst Burn Center at New York Presbyterian Hospital on Feb 6, with second- and third-degree burns covering 25% of her body, including her face, torso and legs, ABC News reported. As part of her treatment, she was placed in a medically induced coma and hooked up to a respirator.

Frantzcia was placed in foster care following her release in May, and authorities say she eventually told her foster family a different account of what occurred.

What this story is lacking is an explanation of the ritual and it's purpose. According to several websites on the subject, Loa means "mystery" in the Yoruba language and stands for a group of spirits of the voodoo religion that serve as intermediaries (sort of like angels and saints).

Juvenile sick fucks set pitbull on fire, dog dies

Two Baltimore teenagers were charged Monday for dousing a pitbull with gasoline and setting it on fire, burning 98% of its body and, eventually, killing it.

Police spokesman Donny Moses said Monday police weren't releasing the names of the two juveniles (motherfuckers) charged because of their age. So they're old enough to commit this horrific act but not old enough to be exposed. I think whether or not the names of so-called juvenile delinquents should be shared with the public should be based on the nature of the crime and not the ages of the criminals, if you ask me.

Police have not said what charges the youths face.

Too bad it's only murder if you kill a person. But where would you draw the line?

Killing an ant or a cockroach or a rat couldn't possibly be murder, could it? What about a dog, a cat, a horse? What if it were based on the level of suffering the animal is (a) capable of experiencing given the size and sophistication of its brain, and (b) the suffering and damage actually experienced given the torture endured and the end result. Whether the animal has been domesticated or not also could be considered, as the suffering of the people who own the animals, which often are considered part of the family, should be taken into consideration when punishing the torturers and/or killers--shouldn't it. Food for thought.

You might think I'm being too harsh, but the thing is I have zero tolerance for cruelty to animals, whether it's a mouse or an elephant. Bugs are another story. They're practically brainless and easy to kill quickly and, therefore, nearly impossible to torture, though I'm sure little motherfuckers like the ones involved in this case have devised methods to torture something as small as a flea.

According to the report, the dog was doused with gasoline on May 27 on Calhoun Street in southwest Baltimore and then set on fire. After being treated for the burns, which covered 98% of its body, the 2-year-old pitbull had to be euthanized four days later at a hospital in Pennsylvania.

"This was one of the most cruel things I've ever seen. It hurt me to my heart," said Baltimore city police Officer Syreeta Teel, who used her sweatshirt to put the fire out.

I say--you know what's coming, don't you?--douse the pricks with gasoline and set them on fire. But make sure they remain alive to suffer the notiriously terrible pain from the burns. A small fine, community service or few months in jail playing Nintendo just doesn't do it for me.
